los-angeles-lung-surgeon-Fuller-MahtabifardWest Coast Associates for Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery is directed by Ali Mahtabifard, MD and Clark Fuller, MD, renowned thoracic surgeons with expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgical techniques. We specialize in the use of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) to treat a variety of thoracic conditions: lung cancer, metastases to the lung from other cancers, malignant pleural effusions, benign and malignant esophageal diseases such as esophageal cancer and motility disorders, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), thoracic outlet syndrome, mediastinal tumors, thymomas, thymic cancer, solitary pulmonary nodules, chest wall diseases and airway disorders.

Dr. Mahtabifard and Dr. Fuller’s expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgery make them highly sought after surgeons, both locally in Los Angeles as well as throughout the country and world. Thoracic surgery is complex in nature and, in many cases, patients do not have local access to surgeons with the advanced knowledge and cutting-edge equipment needed to best address their often complicated condition. We welcome out of town patients to our Los Angeles practice and are happy to accommodate any patient who is interested in our services.

Hotel Accommodations

We recommend a number of hotels centrally located in the Los Angeles area and that are close-by our office. Your procedure will determine the type of accommodation you will need, but for extensive surgery, we normally recommend staying overnight in a recovery facility. The additional extensive nursing care will make your experience more comfortable and ensure a fast recovery. Depending on the extensiveness of the procedure, some patients will need to stay overnight at a hospital.

There are several hotels that are nearby our office that we can help arrange accommodations for you.

Transportation Services

Burbank Bob Hope Airport is the same distance to our office as LAX Airport, but is significantly smaller. There is considerably less traffic, less wait time, and shorter lines for baggage/checkpoints.

LAX Airport is the largest and most widely used airport in Los Angeles and offers a range of flight options to anywhere in the world.

Rental Cars

We recommend that all of our out-of-town patients rent a car when coming to LA because of the extreme difficulty it takes to travel without one. Both LAX and Bob Hope Airport has a number of major car rental companies available. It is important to note that you may not be able to drive yourself for a period of time after surgery. Please discuss these details with your surgeon when determining details for your trip.
