Dr. Mahtabifard’s Affiliations
Dr. Mahtabifard is affiliated with a number of reputable hospitals and academic organizations. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, he got his medical degree from the prestigious New York Medical College. He went on to complete his general surgery internship from St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York, and a general surgery residency at Harvard University’s Massachusetts General Hospital. He also finished a two-year research fellowship at New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute in thoracic oncology, at the University of California, Davis in cardiothoracic surgery, and at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in advanced and minimally invasive thoracic surgery.
Dr. Mahtabifard was the Clinical Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA from 2012-2014. At Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, Dr. Mahtabifard is a faculty member of the John Wayne Cancer Institute. He has written a considerable amount on his particular focus within the thoracic surgery field. In particular, he has co-authored the seminal textbook Atlas of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery (VATS) that is used in classrooms across the country to teach doctors about VATS.

He is also on staff at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center along with Dr. Mahtabifard. His contributions to the field of thoracic surgery have been expansive and extensive. He has written textbook chapters, many articles, and published studies in a number of publications, like the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He also works for the CALBG and ASCOG as the key investigator in oncologic clinical trials. Lastly, he works with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Earl Detection of Lung Cancer Project as a medical consultant.
Dr. Fuller has an undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming, attended medical school at Creighton University, and went on to complete his general surgery residency at the University of Missouri. He has held residencies at the University of Southern California and the University of Texas’s MD Anderson Cancer Center where he specialized in minimally invasive surgical techniques.
